Founded in spring 2014 by Frédéric Lafarge and his wife Chantal Vial. Frédéric had worked at his family's Burgundian estate, Domaine Michel Lafarge, since 1978. They started with 2.25 hectares and grew to over 6 hectares by 2022. Certified organic and Demeter biodynamic from the beginning. Bel Air comes from south-southeast facing granite vineyards planted in 1950, 1969, and the 1970s. Vines are trained in traditional gobelet. The steepest parcels are still plowed by horse.

Frédéric Lafarge and his wife Chantal made a radical move in 2014: they left Volnay to start over in Beaujolais. At Fleurie, they farm biodynamically and make wine using traditional Burgundian methods. Their kids Maxime-Henri and Clothilde are taking over—ensuring the weird, beautiful vision continues.
