Le Ragnaie, Brunello di Montalcino, 2016
Le Ragnaie, Brunello di Montalcino, 2016 is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
2016 stands as one of the greatest Brunello vintages ever made, and this wine captures why. The tannin structure rivals anything from the early 1980s—sleek, racy, and explosively complex without heaviness. Super fine-grained tannins give it an almost elegant ferocity; mesmerizing on the palate and potent in the glass. Just now entering its prime drinking window, this is a wine that will continue to reward patience for years to come.

Tasting Profile
Gregory Gouges is a very fortunate young man. He has free rein at one of the most historic domains in all of the Cote D'Or. There is a brand new state of the art gravity driven cuverie that his predecessors built after years of careful planning. The family vineyards encompass some of the greatest terroirs in Nuits Saint Georges including the 3.5 hectare Monopole "Clos des Porrets Saint Georges". The parcels are large and the vines are mature and in fantastic health. The style at Gouges has been updated. For years, heavy extraction resulted in tannic wines that took many years to come around. If you ever come across old bottles, they are fantastic. Under Gregory Gouges, the tannins are managed more carefully and the wines are now made in a style with greater emphasis on finesse and fruit purity, allowing the greatness of Gouges' terroir to really shine.
