Lonardo, Taurasi, 2017
Lonardo, Taurasi, 2017 is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Cantine Lonardo champions old-vine Aglianico in Taurasi, Campania’s grand red. Sourced from small plots around Taurasi, vines average 30-50 years, grown on volcanic soils. Careful vineyard work ensures concentrated, balanced fruit.
Fermented in steel, then aged in large barrels for elegance over power. The 2017 reveals Taurasi’s dark core with firm tannins and lively acidity. A true expression of southern Italy’s noble grape.

Tasting Profile
Cantine Lonardo is one of those domaines that have been growing grapes—always organically—for generations, but only started bottling in recent times (1998). They continue to work organically and use traditional practices in the winery. To lovers of traditional Barolo, this will sound familiar: a very long maceration (beyond two months!), aging strictly in large neutral barrels, and wines of depth, power, structure, and soulfulness. The grapes are picked late and yet the alcohols are modest, resulting in wonderfully balanced wines.
