Chambolle 1er Cru from a great vintage, sitting right against the slope of Bonnes-Mares. Les Fuées is one of Chambolle-Musigny's most respected premier crus — it shares a border with Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, which gives it a hint more weight and structure than the village's lacier sites while keeping Chambolle's signature perfumed elegance. Jadot, under Frédéric Barnier, makes a precise, restrained, classical style here. 2019 brought concentration and ripeness in spades along with firm tannic structure, and this is a wine still in its youth — the aromatic perfume already showing, but the architecture firm. Decant a few hours ahead, or tuck it away for another five to ten years.

"This is aromatically similar to the Baudes except it’s spicier still. The plump and rounded medium-bodied flavors also possess excellent volume, concentrated and focused power that culminate in a more mineral-driven, moderately austere and impressively lengthy finale. This is a big Fuées as it’s rare for it to be even more structured than the Baudes. Patience strongly advised." —Allen Meadows

"The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru is quite perfumed on the nose, offering small red cherries mixed with blueberry and light seawater aromas. This opens nicely in the glass and reveals hidden facets. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy and generous. Perhaps the most elegant of Jadot’s Chambolles, it will vie with the Feusselottes as their best from this appellation." —Neal Martin

"The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées (Domaine Louis Jadot) reveals scents of berry fruit, spiced plums, sweet soil tones, licorice and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's lively and vibrant, with refined tannins and fine length on the finish." —William Kelley

"Cask sample. Bright garnet colour. Light mossiness on the nose (interesting rather than a fault). Very flattering jewelly fruit with some finesse and a hint of Chambolle chestnuts. Fresher than many Jadot 2019s (not too sweet) and a very broad, winning wine with everything in the right place. Lots of energy here."

More about Louis Jadot

Founded in 1859, Jadot is one of Burgundy's great estates and négociants, with 600 acres scattered across the region's best vineyards—Chablis to Moulin-à-Vent. They make hundreds of wines, but each bottle carries the iconic Bacchus emblem and the weight of nearly two centuries of accumulated wisdom. Burgundy without the pretension.
