The 246th assemblage by one of Champagne's most prestigious houses. Collection 246 is built on 55% wines from the 2021 harvest, enriched with 35% perpetual reserve wines (2012-2020) and 10% reserve wines aged in oak (2012-2017). Chef de Caves Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon raised the Chardonnay proportion to 54%, well above the low-forties norm for the series, to balance the challenging 2021 base. Partial malolactic (30%) retains freshness. The result is Roederer's signature: precise, complex, and generous.

More about Louis Roederer

Roederer traces its roots to 1776, but the story really starts in 1833, when Louis Roederer inherited his uncle's Champagne house and put his own name on it. His descendants, the Rouzaud family, still own it, which makes it one of Champagne's great independent houses. Roederer farms around 240 hectares, enough for about two-thirds of its needs, with a big chunk biodynamic. Cristal began in 1876 for Tsar Alexander II. Terroir-driven Champagne, start to finish.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
