Robert Parker

94 points

"The 2022 Savagnin didn't mention ouillé on the label, which, at traditional addresses, usually means the barrels and casks are never topped up and the wines always develop a thin veil of flor yeasts that give them the spiciness. This vintage, the wine aged in oak for three years. It was a year of very powerful wines; it was very dry and the fermentations were difficult, even more so for Chardonnay. This finished at 13% alcohol after the three years in cask, when the wine experiences some evaporation and concentration, but the wine is elegant and chalky; in a way, it reminded me of the wines from Nicole Derieux at Montbourgeau, very clear and bright with noticeable nuttiness." —Luis Gutiérrez
