Estate Zinfandel named for cellarmaster Román Cisneros, who has worked at Marietta for over 32 years. Sourced from organically farmed vineyards including the historic Angeli Ranch, originally planted in 1886. Founded in 1978 by Sonoma native Chris Bilbro, who came from three generations of winemaking roots, Marietta now farms over 400 acres organically across Alexander Valley, McDowell Valley, and Yorkville Highlands. The estate is now run by Chris's sons Jake and Scot Bilbro.

"The 2022 Román offers up scents of ripe red cherry fruit, cedar, tobacco, dried herbs, cinnamon and mint. This aromatic, deceptively medium-bodied Zinfandel is all charm. Barbera and Petite Sirah complement the blend, but Zinfandel character is very much front and center."

Chris Bilbro founded Marietta in 1978 with the radical idea of affordable red blends from mixed vineyard lots. Their Old Vine Red—predominantly Zinfandel, first made in 1982—essentially created the California red blend category. Now fully estate-based, organically farmed across 310 acres, and run by winemaker Scot Bilbro. California's most important red blend.
