The Geierslay is the coolest, highest card in Max Kilburg's hand — a side-valley site tucked up behind and above the Grand Cru Ohligsberg, and that extra altitude is exactly why it makes such a thrilling Kabinett. Kilburg only began bottling from this parcel with the 2021 vintage; it's a new wine from a young grower who has already become one of the Mosel's most talked-about names. He trained with Julian Haart before taking over his family's historic Geierslay estate as the 20th generation, and his own line comes from less than two hectares of old-vine parcels in total. Cool site, gentle sweetness held taut by serious acidity: this is classical Mosel Kabinett made in a transparent, modern hand. If you think you've had enough Riesling, this is the style that starts the argument over again.

Tasting Profile

Off-dry and light-bodied. Aromas of peach, lime and wet stone, with a savory herbal edge. The sweetness is gentle and the acidity is bright and firm, so the wine finishes clean and mouthwatering rather than sugary. Long, stony finish.
