Here's a village Meursault from the Bouzereau domaine most people rate as the best of the five that carry the name, and it comes from a parcel young enough that you can follow it almost from the start. The domaine's 0.4 hectares of Le Limozin grow on clay and limestone, and the vines only went in in 2018. That makes this a young-vine wine and one of the newest voices in the cellar. Le Limozin is one of three village-level Meursault lieux-dits the domaine bottles on its own, alongside Les Grands Charrons and Les Tessons, so it's a good way to taste how one Meursault address differs from the next. Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau took over from his father Michel in 1999. He has farmed organically since 2005 and has moved toward biodynamics without bothering to get certified. The whites ferment on native yeasts in barrel with their fine lees and no sulfur, rest on those lees until the next harvest, and are bottled unfined and unfiltered according to the lunar cycle. The domaine recommends serving it at 12–14°C.

Antonio Galloni

"The 2024 Meursault Limozin has a more floral bouquet with pressed white flowers marrying with the citrus fruit, just a hint of walnut in the background. The palate is light on its toes and maybe just misses a bit of substance and grip - I probably prefer the harmony shown by the Les Grands Charrons this year." —Neal Martin

More about Michel Bouzereau

Seven generations of Meursault winemaking converge in Michel Bouzereau's estate. He was president of the Burgundy Growers Union and a fierce traditionalist. His son Jean-Baptiste now steers the ship from their new winery (built 2009), commanding some of the Côte de Beaune's top parcels. This family's credentials aren't just credentials—they're a philosophy.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Roast chicken with tarragon cream sauce, sole meunière, butter-poached lobster, gougères, or a wedge of aged Comté.

Tasting Profile

Expect the classic village Meursault profile: ripe orchard fruit and lemon, with a hazelnut, lightly toasty edge from barrel fermentation and a creamy, rounded texture from long lees ageing. Young vines on clay and limestone typically give a fresher, more open style, and bright acidity keeps it lively through a dry, mineral finish.
