Antonio Galloni

88 points

"Comprised of 100% Pinot Noir (70% from the 2021 base vintage), The NV Brut Rosé de Cuvaison is airy and nicely lifted. There's pleasing nuance here, but the Rosé feels a bit light and fleeting. Sweet dried cherry, cedar and pipe tobacco linger. Dosage is 10 grams per liter." —Antonio Galloni

Wine Spectator

92 points

"Ripe raspberry, cherry, graphite and blood orange notes leap from the glass, riding a satiny bead and married to mouthwatering acidity on the palate. Bright and expressive, with a chalky, lingering finish. Drink now through 2020."

More about Moutard

Founded in the 1600s, this house on the far southern edge of Champagne specializes in the production of Pinot Noir from an ideal terroir featuring a mix of clay and bands of kimmeridgian limestone.

The wines are vinified in a traditional manner and emerge from the cellars with lovely aromas of red fruit, supple texture and a long, lingering finish. Moutard puts out impressive values across the board.

Tasting Profile

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
