Nicolas Gonin’s 2022 Mondeuse is grown on clay-silica-limestone slopes in Isère’s Bas-Dauphiné, a revival zone for Alpine varieties. Farmed organically, the grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts.

After 30 days of maceration and nine months on lees in stainless steel, the wine shows vivid cherry fruit, floral lift, and peppery spice. Structured yet fresh—a precise Alpine red from a master of forgotten terroirs.

More about Nicholas Gonin

Nicolas Gonin is on a mission to resurrect ancient French grape varieties that got swept aside by market trends. He found his inspiration at Domaine Tempier in Bandol, studying the forgotten cépages anciens—the noble grapes that regions abandoned in favor of the big names. Today he owns part of the world's only 10 hectares of Persan, and he's experimenting with obscure varieties like Bia and Mècle de Bourgin, all certified organic and fermented in enamel. It's a love letter to terroir as it used to be made.
