Olek Bondonio is a small estate in Neive, in the Barbaresco zone of Piedmont, run by Alessio Bondonio. The family has farmed in the area for generations, though the current winery was established more recently when Alessio took over from his father. The estate farms approximately 4 hectares of Nebbiolo across several crus in Neive, including Starderi and Roncagliette. Starderi is one of Neive's most prized vineyard sites, known for full-bodied, structured Barbarescos with aging potential. Winemaking is traditional: extended maceration, aging in large Slavonian oak botti, minimal intervention. Bottled unfined and unfiltered. A classically-styled Barbaresco from one of the commune's finest exposures.

Smooth as silk, it's juicy and delicious, doling out ripe Morello cherry, cinnamon and vanilla before a minty finish. Velvety tannins provide seamless support while fresh acidity keeps it balanced. Olek Bondonio used to be a professional snowboarder. Now he's one of the most sought-after names in Barbaresco, farming the 200-year-old family estate Cascina La Berchialla with nearly seven hectares across some of Piedmont's most esteemed sites. His great-great-grandfather helped found the Barbaresco Co-op. In the cellar, Olek practices natural fermentation in concrete vats, extended skin macerations, aging in Slavonian oak, minimal sulfur. He's honoring history while making uncompromising, alive wines.
