"The 2023 Branco is the entry-level white trying to show that it can be better than an entry-level. It comes from mica and schist soils and is a blend of Rabigato, Malvasia Fina, Gouveio and Códega do Larinho from old vines and mixes varieties, exposures and altitudes (400 to 550 meters above sea level. Cropped from a challenging year that was better for whites than for reds, this has volume, freshness and acidity. The full clusters were pressed (a constant in all the whites), it fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and was kept in stainless steel with the fine lees for no less than six months. It has moderate ripeness, 12% alcohol and a pH of 3.08, even though 2023 went through full malolactic (not always done). But the wine is vibrant, fresh and clean, with notes of white flowers and fruit, an effervescent palate and a long finish with a stony sensation. This is certainly more than just an entry-level... 40,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2024." —Luis Gutiérrez
