This is Prieler's flagship — single-vineyard Blaufränkisch from Ried Marienthal, one of the oldest and most storied sites on Lake Neusiedl. Marienthal is pure marine limestone: calcareous sand and chalk that keep the soil cool even as warm Pannonian air bakes the slope above, and that tension is the whole magic. The result is a red of immense power buffered by vibrant acidity and fine, silken tannins — translucent and elegant rather than heavy, built to age for years. The Prielers held vines here for decades and waited until their replanted parcel fully matured before bottling it on its own. From the classically structured 2021 vintage, this is Austrian red at its most serious.

"The 2021 Blaufränkisch Ried Marienthal was destemmed completely and the whole berries fermented in open cuvées with gentle extraction. The wine matured for 30 months in a large used barrel. Smoke and blueberry aromas almost come with a touch of tar on the nose. The palate is supremely fine and almost translucent, with beautifully precise tannins of starched silk highlighted by exquisite freshness that delineates everything and makes the wine shimmer with its red-fruited charm.
