Liguria's Riviera di Ponente is one of Italy's most dramatically sited wine regions — terraced cliffs dropping to the Mediterranean — and Punta Crena is among its finest estates. Pigato is the local white grape, believed to be related to Vermentino but distinctly more textured and bitter-edged in character. Punta Crena's version comes from old vines on terraced schist soils above Varigotti, farmed organically and vinified with restraint.
