Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir from a house whose whole premise is giving you more wine than you paid for. Veteran winemaker Vance Rose built RouteStock around a simple idea: buy fruit from high-end vineyards along the well-known routes of Napa Valley and the Sonoma Coast, then stay out of the way. Staying out of the way means native yeasts and natural malolactic fermentation, with no shortcuts that would cover up what the grapes have to say. From the start, this cuvée has relied on two steady growers, one in the Petaluma Gap AVA and one just 1.5 miles from the coast. The house has since added its own estate vineyard, Moon Dust, in the Sebastopol Hills. If you want Sonoma Coast Pinot that tastes like where it comes from, without paying for a famous label, this is a smart bottle to know.
