Same grape, same estate, different rock, and you can taste it. Where the Szt Tamas dry Furmint grows on red clay, Uragya sits on the western volcanic slopes between two extinct volcanoes outside Mad, and the wine comes out tighter, stonier, and more about structure than fruit. The name means "God's bed," the spot where villagers watched the sun go to sleep behind the hills. This is another of Royal Tokaji's classified First Growths, the historic plots Hugh Johnson set out to revive when he founded the estate in 1990. Ten months in oak build texture without covering the minerality. Dry, precise, and built to reward a few years in the cellar.
