"A slightly riper, if otherwise similar nose precedes bigger-bodied flavors that also possess excellent punch and detail while exuding evident minerality on the dry, balanced and lingering finale that is just a bit more complex. This too is excellent for its level and very much worth checking out." —Allen Meadows

Antonio Galloni

"The 2024 Chablis Grands Terroirs comes from Les Pargues, Bas Chapelot and Fontenot, cropped at 20 hl/ha. Billaud was pleased that there was no botrytis this year. It has a fragrant nose with yellow plum, fern and light crushed stone scents emerging with time. The palate is fresh on the entry with a bright spine of acidity. Candied orange peel and citrus lemon bounce around on the zingy finish. There's great energy here. This is a well-made and delicious Chablis." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

"Samuel Billaud’s 2024 Chablis Village opens in the glass with notes of orange peel, beeswax and pastry. The medium-bodied palate is racy and incisive, concluding with a long, chalky finish." —Kristaps Karklins

Jancis Robinson

"Open like the Petit Chablis, with a similar fruit profile but a little deeper and firmer. Tight, linear but not lean. A little creamier than the Petit Chablis, both in aroma and flavour, less stony-mineral, more rounded on the long finish. Moves from crisp to creamy in a smooth transition. Impressive concentration and length." —Julia Harding

"Demonstrates a mastery of the difficult 2024 vintage with its charming aromas of citrus fruit and fresh white flowers, accented by chalky minerality. The texture balances fresh acidity with enough richness and concentration to satisfy Chablis lovers. The grapes are from both vineyards that Samuel Billaud owns and those he sources from left-bank sites including Pargues – near Préhy – and the cooler back of the Montmain slope in the lieux-dits of Fontenottes and Les Cartes, and grapes from lieu-dit Chapelot on the right bank." —Charles Curtis

More about Samuel Billaud

Samuel Billaud made wine for over 20 vintages at his family's Domaine Billaud-Simon before branching out in 2009 with his own vision. When the family domaine sold in 2014, he secured several prime vineyard parcels in Les Clos, Vaudésir, Blanchot, and other Premier Cru sites—15 hectares total. Hand-harvest for top cuvées, measured oak use (10–20% new), stainless steel aging for village wines. This is a modernist approach to classical Chablis—mineral, precise, terroir-driven.
