Phil Coturri, Sonoma's longtime evangelist for organic and biodynamic mountain viticulture, turns his hand to white Rhone varieties here. The Simons Vineyard sits in the Moon Mountain District, a rocky, shallow-soiled AVA carved into the side of a dormant volcano above Sonoma Valley. This blend of Marsanne and Roussanne is grown the way Coturri farms everything: organically, by hand, on rugged volcanic ground. A textural, sun-warmed white with the structure to handle a meal, it's a distinctive alternative to the usual Chardonnay.
