Twenty-six years on, and 1999 is finally showing what it always promised. Bressandes is the best-known red climat on the Corton hill, a swathe of iron-rich clay and limestone looking east over Aloxe, and Tollot-Beaut - a family domaine based down the road in Chorey-les-Beaune - has long been one of its most reliable hands. 1999 was a generous, ripe Burgundy vintage that also had the structure to go the distance, and this Pinot Noir has used all of it. The fruit has turned to dried cherry, and around it sit forest floor, truffle and sweet earth, all still carried on a grand cru frame. Mature Burgundy at the point where it stops being about fruit and starts being about everything else.

Robert Parker

91 points

"The bing cherry, candied strawberry, and jammy black raspberry-scented 1999 Corton-Bressandes is a fresh, medium to full-bodied wine. It has loads of depth to its broad-shouldered, highly structured character. Loads of sweet tannin are present, yet this wine appears to have more than enough fruit to sustain it." —Pierre Rovani

Wine Spectator

93 points

"Sensational. Rich, ripe and full-bodied, but also velvety, delivering layers of wet earth, black fruit, ripe tannins, smoke and mineral complexity in a supersmooth and balanced package. Long finish."
