Viñedos del Jorco, a project dedicated to reviving old-vine Garnacha in the rugged hills of Cebreros (Sierra de Gredos), crafts wines of remarkable finesse and terroir expression. Las Enebradas comes from century-old vines rooted in granitic soils at high elevations, producing a wine that balances intensity with a striking sense of weightlessness. The 2021 vintage, marked by freshness and precision, highlights the floral, mineral-driven side of Garnacha.

Wild strawberry, red cherry, and blood orange lead, layered with crushed herbs, white pepper, and wet stone. The palate is vibrant and lifted, with ultra-fine tannins and a long, saline finish that speaks to the vineyard’s extreme terroir. While beautifully expressive now, this wine will continue to evolve over the next decade. A perfect match for roasted lamb, grilled vegetables, or simply an evening exploring Spain’s new wave of elegant, site-driven Garnacha.

"Some of the 2021s are quite high in alcohol, like the 2021 Las Enebradas, which reached 15%, while the previous vintages were around 14%. This single-vineyard wine was produced following the same modus operandi: 60% of destemmed grapes were in tinaja and the 40% full clusters were in concrete, always with indigenous yeasts, something they have kept since the initial vintage. The maceration this year was 48 days. The wine matured in a 500-liter and a 300-liter barrel, both used, for 14 months to fill around 900 bottles. Despite having more alcohol than the 2019 that I tasted next to it, there's less sensation of ripeness here; the wine is nicely balanced and more elegant, with more freshness and finer tannins." —Robert Parker
