Walter Scott, Pinot Noir Witness Tree Vineyard, 2022
is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Witness Tree Vineyard is a historic Eola-Amity Hills site, named for an actual 200-year-old oak once used as a pioneer land marker. Planted on volcanic Nekia and Jory soils and perched at around 500 feet, the vineyard sees plenty of wind exposure and wide diurnal shifts, ideal for creating Pinot with perfume, precision, and natural freshness.
In 2022—a vintage marked by balanced ripeness and vivid energy—this wine opens with crushed cranberry, red cherry, rose petal, and spice box, underpinned by hints of wet stone and forest floor. The palate is silky but structured, with refined tannins and bright acidity, finishing long and detailed. It’s a wine that delivers aromatic lift and textural depth without weight or heaviness.
As always with Walter Scott, the wine is fermented with native yeasts, includes some whole cluster, and is aged in neutral to lightly used French oak, letting the vineyard speak clearly.
Pair with roasted duck, mushroom dishes, or grilled salmon, or cellar for 5–10 years to let the complexity deepen.
