Robert Parker

"The 2019 Chardonnay Seven Springs Vineyard is the last vintage of a single-vineyard Seven Springs for Walter Scott. At this stage, it opens with matchstick and roasted almond aromas, with an undercurrent of quince and savory spices. The palate manages linear tang and saline, with broader, nuttier character. It has a satiny texture and finishes with tremendous length—an elegant, age-worthy last iteration!" —Erin Brooks

Decanter

"Ken Pahlow at Walter Scott has his blocks at Seven Springs aggressively shoot thinned to lower yields, and is among the first to pick, following his Burgundian mentors. The result is compelling. There are aromas of peach and citrus with a bit of mineral and spice and a fair amount of reduction. On the palate, the texture is silky and very fine with a waxy, dense texture and impressive length. The wine ended up at just 12.8% alcohol, although it feels richer than this. A masterful effort."

Wine Enthusiast

"This is just a bit more rounded out on the palate than the Freedom Hill cuvée, with a lush and juicy quality that suggests slightly riper fruit. Citrus flavors dominate, a lovely mix of lime, lemon, grapefruit and green pineapple. There's plenty of refreshing acidity without turning the wine at all sour. The depth and detail are exceptional." —Paul Gregutt
