Antoniolo stands as the most dynamic force in Gattinara, a historic alpine DOCG far north of Barolo and Barbaresco in the foothills near Lago Maggiore, where cooler climate and altitude craft fragrant, elegant Nebbiolo. This Riserva expression—aged 36 months in oak—showcases the producer's pioneering commitment: Antoniolo was the first in the DOCG to bottle single-vineyard crus and remains one of the few to bottle 100% Nebbiolo without blending. The grapes macerate about 20 days in concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts, then undergo spontaneous malolactic fermentation, building structure without heavy-handedness. Intensely aromatic, the wine opens with sour cherry, dried rose petal, and blood-orange notes—the signature floral intensity of Alto Piemonte—backed by cool-climate freshness and a silken tannic architecture that reveals its long aging potential.
