From one of Serralunga d'Alba's most powerful crus—where calcareous marl and clay soils produce Barolo of exceptional structure and decades-long aging potential. The Boasso family's roots here date to after World War II, when Giuseppe returned from service to resume farming. In the early 1970s, his son Franco established the Gabutti winery, named for the vineyard they had previously sold to other producers, and began estate-bottling for the first time. Today, Franco's sons Ezio and Claudio manage 4.5 hectares of vineyard alongside hazelnut cultivation. One hundred percent Nebbiolo, traditionally vinified to emphasize Serralunga's signature intensity. The 2021 vintage was strikingly expressive, with open, generous aromatics rather than the austerity typical of young Barolo—tar, bark, blueberry, and dark fruit on the nose; juicy yet firm and grippy on the palate with depth and freshness. Best from 2026 onward; built to last decades.
