Antonio Galloni

97 points

"The 2021 Barolo Brunate is another stellar wine in this range of magnificent 2021s from Oddero. Dark and intensely balsamic, this is an archetype of Brunate. Black cherry, blood orange, spice, menthol, spice and new leather open with reticence. Today, I find the 2021 rather compact. Then again, this is Brunate. Readers will want to give this a few years in the cellar at a minimum." —Antonio Galloni

Robert Parker

97 points

"The Oddero 2021 Barolo Brunate comes from half a hectare of vines, and only 2,400 bottles were created. It is recognized by a dusty mineral note of crushed limestone or aspirin that appears quite prominent in this balanced vintage. It adds a dusty sensation to the bouquet that then transfers to the elegantly powdery tannins. I love the Brunate in this vintage, with its lasting sensations of dried mint and violet. I love its vertical force and that etched mineral quality that adds contouring and dimension. The Brunate ages in botte grande for 24 months." —Monica Larner

Kerin O'Keefe

95 points

"The 2021 Brunate has balsamic aromas of camphor that mingle with iris, dark spice and ripe forest berry. Full-bodied and tightly coiled, the palate features ripe dark cherry, licorice, blood orange, bitter almond and crushed mint accompanied by a firm backbone of close-grained tannins that grip the finish. Give this time to unwind and fully develop. Drink 2031-2041." —Kerin O'Keefe

More about Oddero

Super fresh, glowing Barolo from a 200-year legacy. Poderi Oddero dates to the 1700s and released its first bottled Barolo in 1878. Now run by sixth and seventh generations (Mariavittoria and Mariacristina and their children), they're certified organic and own some of Barolo's best crus: Bussia, Brunate, Vignarionda. The wines pop with bright red fruit and mineral finesse—drinkability with authority.
