Antonio Galloni

"The 2021 Barolo Monvigliero is a classy, elegant wine that captures all the pedigree of this great site. Silky, aromatic and light on its feet, the 2021 is sublime. Orange peel, mint and kirsch all take shape in a classy, translucent Barolo that delivers the goods. This is such a gorgeous and complete wine." —Antonio Galloni

Robert Parker

"With fruit sourced from a tiny 0.68-hectare parcel in Verduno, the Oddero 2021 Barolo Monvigliero is perfumed and graceful with lilac, iris root, cherry blossom and something sweet that reminds me of freshly squeezed blood oranges. That citrusy note develops as the wine opens in the glass. This is a beauty and shows Oddero's deft hand at making wines across many of Barolo's best sites. It matures in botte grande for 24 months, rendering hints of spice and earth." —Monica Larner

Jancis Robinson

"Verduno. Just mid ruby. Light and fragrant red-fruit nose with savoury, minerally touches. Elegant palate with sandy tannins and still quite closed. Long and fine but not ready yet."

Kerin O'Keefe

95 points

"The 2021 Monvigliero from Oddero shows class and elegance as well as great aging potential. It opens with mesmerizing aromas of blue flower, wild rose, forest berry, camphor and spice while the full-bodied, youthfully austere palate delivers red cherry, spiced orange zest, licorice and crushed mint. Taut, refined tannins and fresh acidity keep it balanced. Give this time to fully come around. Drink 2031–2041." —Kerin O'Keefe

More about Oddero

Super fresh, glowing Barolo from a 200-year legacy. Poderi Oddero dates to the 1700s and released its first bottled Barolo in 1878. Now run by sixth and seventh generations (Mariavittoria and Mariacristina and their children), they're certified organic and own some of Barolo's best crus: Bussia, Brunate, Vignarionda. The wines pop with bright red fruit and mineral finesse—drinkability with authority.
