The Bzikot family story is remarkable: Sylvain's grandfather was a Polish immigrant who arrived in Burgundy just before World War II with nothing, came to work in the vineyards around Meursault, and steadily built an estate in the post-war years when land was cheap. Today the domaine encompasses 13-15 hectares including prestigious parcels in Puligny-Montrachet, farmed organically. Auxey-Duresses sits in a valley between Meursault and Volnay, producing wines that offer genuine Burgundy character without the stratospheric prices of its famous neighbors. This Pinot Noir comes from limestone and marl soils on southeast-facing slopes. Expect charming, elegant fruit—blackcurrant, blackberry, and floral notes—with fine tannic structure. A true insider's Burgundy value.

More about Bzikot

Bzikot is the kind of Puligny-Montrachet address Burgundy lovers like to keep to themselves: a family grower whose wines put freshness and tension ahead of oak and polish.

The story starts with Sylvain Bzikot's grandfather, a Polish émigré who settled in Burgundy and pieced the estate together one parcel at a time. For years the family sold its grapes to négociants. Sylvain began bottling under his own name in the 1990s and now works alongside his son Quentin. The domaine has grown to around 15 hectares. It's anchored in Puligny-Montrachet and reaches into Saint-Aubin, Auxey-Duresses, Volnay and Santenay, with Meursault also in the range, on clay-limestone and marl slopes facing east and southeast.

The approach is classic: hand harvesting, gentle pressing, slow, cool fermentations and aging in barrel with a modest share of new oak. Expect mineral, citrus-edged Chardonnay and fine-boned Pinot Noir, serious Côte de Beaune from a name that still flies under the radar.
