Old-vine Carignane is a Dirty and Rowdy specialty, and this one comes from 80-plus-year-old dry-farmed vines at Rosewood Vineyard in Talmage, Mendocino County, rooted in red-brown alluvial soils. Founders Hardy Wallace and Matt Richardson built their reputation on this kind of overlooked old-vine California treasure, farmed and vinified with a deliberately light touch. Fermented whole-cluster in open-top tanks, pressed to old barrels, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The result is a juicy, energetic red that wears its age-old vines lightly. Serve with a slight chill for maximum drinkability.
