Coquard-Loison-Fleurot is the kind of address that careful Burgundy buyers have been quietly accumulating since Thomas Colladot, born 1984, took the helm and shifted his family's Flagey-Échezeaux estate to domaine bottling in 2009-10. CLF now spans twelve appellations with six grands crus in the holdings — but this village Morey-Saint-Denis is where you get the house style at a sensible price. The 2022 — among the finest vintages Thomas has produced — is drawn from four plots (one limestone, one clay, two in between), raised in 30% new oak, and shows dark cherry and crushed violet with commendable purity, finishing in the long, fine, savory register Morey does so well.
