A mature Chateauneuf from one of the appellation's great modern vintages. Domaine La Barroche is a family estate of under fifteen hectares in the northern part of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, with Julien Barrot as winemaker since the early 2000s and a portfolio built on old-vine, sandy-soil Grenache. This is the classic estate red, a Grenache-led blend with Mourvedre, Syrah and Cinsault. The 2010 vintage is widely regarded as a benchmark for the southern Rhone, balanced and structured for the long haul, and at fifteen years it is mature and showing its complexity.

Robert Parker

92 points

"A sensational effort, the 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits jammy black raspberry and black currant fruit intermixed with licorice, camphor, incense and hits of truffles as well as pepper. With velvety tannins, abundant glycerin, a nicely delineated mouthfeel, a sumptuous texture and a long finish, this 2010 should drink well for 12-15+ years." —Robert M. Parker, Jr.
