The Eyrie Vineyards is hallowed ground in Oregon: David Lett planted the Dundee Hills' first Pinot Noir and Chardonnay here in 1965, betting the Willamette Valley could rival Burgundy. Today his son Jason carries the torch — and his curiosity — and in 2012 he planted the valley's very first Trousseau, the pale, perfumed red grape of France's Jura. Grown on no-till organic vines and fermented with wild yeast, it's a delicate, savory charmer: light in color, packed with red fruit, dried herbs and an earthy, mineral lift. A genuinely distinctive American red from a pioneering estate. Serve with a chill.

Antonio Galloni

"Remarkably pretty, the 2022 Trousseau mixes savory woodland berries with rosemary, sage and hints of wet stone. It opens with a pretty inner sweetness and crisp red berry fruits, taking on a tinge of spice and white pepper toward the close. It finishes incredibly fresh and clean, tapering off with medium length and a pleasantly crunchy sensation." —Eric Guido

Robert Parker

"Matured in used oak, the 2022 Trousseau has a very pale garnet color and understated aromas of sour cherry, cranberry, black tea, bitters and woodsmoke. The medium-bodied palate is bright and crunchy with layered, spicy flavors. It’s framed by soft, chalky tannins and has a long, earth-laced finish. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered with minimal added sulfur. 384 cases were made." —Erin Brooks

More about Eyrie

David Lett planted the first Pinot Noir vines in Oregon's Willamette Valley in 1965 and released the first vintage in 1970. He also pioneered Pinot Gris in America. His 1975 Reserve placed second at the 1979 Wine Olympics, losing by a hair to a 1959 Burgundy. David's vision transformed Oregon from a wild frontier into a world-class Pinot region.
