La Justice sits at the mouth of Combe Lavaux, where a geological cone of colluviums creates complexity few vineyards can match. Named for the Abbot of Cluny's historical dominion over this land, the vineyard's east-southeastern exposure draws from silt, clay, and limestone in equal measure. Forey's whole cluster fermentation and oak treatment coax dark cherry, stone, and a mineral tension that builds through the glass. Unfined and unfiltered, this 2023 rewards patience—a wine meant to reveal itself across the table.

"An elegant and airy nose features notes of red currant, plum and a very subtle background hint of the sauvage. The supple and delicious flavors are a bit denser if also on the lighter side while displaying a sleek, precise, dusty and austere finale. This could easily be enjoyed young."

More about Forey Pere et Fils

Regis Forey makes a range of traditional, old school Pinot Noir in the heart of Vosne-Romanée. His domaine is a total of 10 hectares and includes holdings from Nuits-St-Georges to Morey-St-Denis, and include some top 1er crus in Vosne. But the wines (and Regis himself) are not flashy, and indeed they can take careful cellaring to unlock their full potential.

These are the very qualities that first drew famed importer Neal Rosenthal to the estate back in 1982. Indeed this was one of the first Burgundy producers in a portfolio that is now famous for a slew of top-notch domaines and classic wines. What drew Neal to this domaine are the same qualities that his entire portfolio exemplifies: pure, unadulterated expressions of terroir.

Perfect Pairings

Roasted game birds, beef en sauce, or aged cheeses with mineral notes. The wine's structure and restraint cut through richness without demanding the center plate.
