Robert Gilvesa is a Hungarian-Canadian and former architect who moved to Hungary in the 1990s. His whites are some of the most convincing in the entire Lake Balaton region. Perhaps pointing to Robert’s prior profession, they come across as effortless extensions of the surrounding scenery and raw materials that made them, but drawn with cool precision.Gilvesy hand-harvests, farms organically, and ferments with indigneous yeast. He’s also a meticulous, thoughtful winemaker, employing a variety of vessels for vinification and aging. Spend 5 minutes with him in his humble (but immaculately clean) cellar like we did this summer, and it's clear he knows what he’s doing.
