Clos de la Mouchere is Henri Boillot's monopole, a Premier Cru walled vineyard in Puligny-Montrachet that he owns entirely (it sits on the Puligny side of the Les Perrieres lieu-dit). Boillot is best known for Meursault, but he brings that same gentle winemaking, with a generous but well-judged use of new oak, to this Chardonnay, prizing tension and minerality over flash. The 2014 was a classic, racy white Burgundy vintage, all crystalline acidity and cut, which suits this site beautifully. It's the more linear, mineral-driven sibling to richer years. Decant it or give it cellar time to unwind.
