Domaine Joblot is the reference-point producer in Givry, and this is one of the great values in red Burgundy. Givry sits in the Cote Chalonnaise, carved from the same slab of Jurassic limestone as the more famous Cote d'Or, but its wines fly under the radar and the prices stay refreshingly grounded. The Clos du Cellier aux Moines is a south-facing premier cru on clay-limestone soils, giving a plusher, more inviting style of Pinot Noir. Now well over a decade old, the 2012 has shed its baby fat and reached a savory, mature stride. Drink over the next few years.

Juliette Joblot's family has been making wine here since after WWI, but it's her modern sensibility—less new oak, more transparency—that's making Givry wines sing.
