Although Joseph Dorbon has been producing wine since the '90s, they weren't imported until 2016, when the Rosenthal team was introduced to the domaine by friend and neighbor Michel Gahier. He is dedicated to traditional Jura grapes and techniques, and his farming & viticultural practices are as low-impact as possible. Dorbon is the only winegrower in the tiny village of Vadans in the Jura. He farms 3ha of his family's vines which average 60-80 years in age. Joseph's demeanor is focused and serious at first, but after seeing our enthusiastic reactions to some of his wines (namely mature Savignin), he begins to relax and open up. His winemaking style follows more of a patient, Burgundian process than some of his more experimental cohort. You can taste the careful and judicious work in vineyards and cellar with your first sip - these wines are deep and complex in nature with a fresh minerality for lift.
