La Torre is a small, old-school Brunello estate near Sant'Angelo in Colle, in the warm southern reaches of Montalcino — a corner that gives Sangiovese real power and ripeness. Luigi Anania runs the property his father bought in 1976, working just under six hectares of vines in a style he calls "traditional but not conservative": long maceration, aging in large oak casks, and patience. The 2012 was a warm, generous vintage in Montalcino, producing a Brunello with both flesh and structure. Now entering a lovely mature stretch, this is classically built Brunello drinking in its sweet spot.
