Moulin-à-Vent, the most prestigious of Beaujolais's ten crus, sits atop granite-rich slopes where vines produce wines of surprising depth and ageability—challenging the assumption that Beaujolais is meant for youth. Domaine Labruyère has been installed at Moulin-à-Vent for nearly two centuries, farming with a single-vineyard philosophy and producing three distinct cuvées from carefully selected parcels. The 2012 vintage was marked by low yields but exceptional quality—producing round wines with good density and the mid-palate concentration that allows serious Moulin-à-Vent to cellar beautifully. At 12 years old, this wine shows its maturity: pure and velvety, with the length and persistence that distinguish great Beaujolais. Notes of small red fruits evolve toward floral and spice with aeration, while the palate combines fresh cherry with subtle toasted notes.
