What is this wine?
Haut Bourg’s Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu “Origine du Haut Bourg” 2014 is a mature Melon de Bourgogne from one of the Loire Valley’s top Muscadet producers. The Lieubeau family, based in Bouaye near the Grandlieu Lake, has long been known for crafting structured, age-worthy Muscadet from old vines grown on sandy-gravel and gneiss soils. Aged sur lie for an extended period, Origine du Haut Bourg emphasizes depth, texture, and minerality rather than simple freshness.

Why get this wine?
This rare, late-release Muscadet shows how beautifully the best wines of the region can age. The 2014 vintage has developed complex flavors of nuts, salt, and citrus zest while retaining remarkable tension. It’s an ideal bottle for fans of mature, mineral whites—offering Chablis-like structure at a fraction of the price and a window into Muscadet’s finest expression.

What does this wine taste like?
Evolved aromas of lemon peel, baked apple, and sea breeze give way to notes of almond, smoke, and wet stone. The palate is taut yet creamy, with vibrant acidity, saline depth, and a long, savory finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Drinking beautifully now through 2030. Serve cool with oysters, scallops, or aged goat cheese. Its mature, mineral complexity also shines alongside roasted poultry.
