Domaine Lucien Boillot, run by Pierre from cellars in Gevrey-Chambertin, makes transparent, terroir-driven Burgundy across many appellations. Les Angles is one of Volnay's classic premier cru sites (historically rated among the village's best), known for a supple, gracious style. The 2009 was a ripe, generous vintage, and this bottle now carries well over a decade of bottle age. This is mature red Burgundy ready to enjoy now, so look for the soft, savory side of aged Pinot rather than fresh fruit. Decant gently and drink over the next few years.
