Cool-climate California Pinot from the extreme Sonoma Coast—bracing acidity, savory depth, and nothing like typical ripe California style. Nick and Andy Peay farm their remote estate just 4 miles from the Pacific, where fog and wind produce Pinot Noir with Burgundian tension and minerality.Single-cru Barolo from Verduno's San Lorenzo. Elegant Nebbiolo—rose, cherry, white pepper, silky tannins. Earlier-drinking finesse.

Antonio Galloni

"The 2023 Pinot Noir (West Sonoma Coast) is brilliant. Bold, racy and punchy, with terrific energy, the 2023 is a delight. Red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, mint and orange peel are all front and center. Clean mineral notes frame the long, nuanced finish. Most of this fruit is from the Peay estate. This mid-weight Pinot has a lot to offer." —Antonio Galloni

"The 2023 Pinot Noir West Sonoma Coast has alluring aromas of cranberry, rooibos tea, mossy bark, mushrooms and bitters. The medium-bodied palate features concentrated, crunchy fruit and well-integrated new oak spice. It’s structured by grainy tannins and juicy acidity and has a long, flavorful finish." —Erin Brooks

"The Peay West Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a true panoramic view of the estate’s terroir and the vintage itself. Sourced mainly from Peay’s estate blocks, with just 5% coming from the slightly warmer Richardson Vineyard next door, this is the winery’s biggest-production Pinot - though at 1,500 cases, it’s still far from mass-produced. The 2023 vintage is a wine with energy and depth, which is classic Peay, delivering a nose that balances delicate florals and bright red berries with a whisper of coastal salinity. The palate is full of tart red fruit like cranberries and pomegranate, with some citrusy mid-palate reminiscent of blood oranges and a pinch of spice for good measure. The structure is firm yet graceful, carrying everything through to a long, truly pleasant finish."

More about Peay Vineyards

Vanessa Wong left Peter Michael Winery in 2001 to start Peay Vineyards with her husband Nick (and brother Andy handling business). Their 53-acre hilltop vineyard sits in the far northwestern corner of West Sonoma Coast, four miles from the Pacific, at Sea Ranch. 34 acres of Pinot Noir, eight of Syrah, seven of Chardonnay, plus Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne. Certified organic, serious about complexity, aging-worthy. Wong's resume (Lafite-Rothschild, Jean Gros, Hirsch) says everything about the level.
