Philippe Alliet sealed the deal for Chinon by building his reference point in Bordeaux rather than Burgundy, and Coteau de Noire is where that ambition shows most. This is Cabernet Franc from a steep, south-facing clay-limestone slope, the estate's most structured and age-worthy single vineyard. Where Alliet's basic Chinon is all juicy refreshment, this one is sleek and serious, with depth and grip that reward a few years in the cellar. The 2023 is a generous, ripe vintage in the Loire. Decant it now or tuck bottles away; either way, this is Cabernet Franc with real gravitas.

Summer's perfect red from Chinon's slopes. Philippe is a reference point for new-generation Loire winemakers: low yields, ripe fruit, obsessive vineyard care. He makes 100% Cabernet Franc, inspired by Bordeaux's power but rooted in Chinon's saline terroir. Long fermentation, aged in 500-liter casks with reduced new wood. The result is a red that defines summer over ice—serious yet refreshing.
