Old-school, pure Burgundy from one of Morey-Saint-Denis' best-kept secrets. Philippe Jouan took over his family's tiny domaine in 2004, the fifth generation to make Pinot here, working everything by hand and keeping prices stubbornly fair. This Coteaux Bourguignons is 100% Pinot Noir from four parcels of roughly 50-year-old vines just below the autoroute in Morey, declassified from village-level land. In other words, it punches well above its appellation. A perennial value hunter's favorite and a great everyday house red. Drink it over the next several years.
