Orange wine from an Oslavia pioneer. The Radikon family (ethnic Slovenians) has farmed in this region for generations. Stanko Radikon began winemaking in 1976, bottling estate wines from 1979. In 1995, he returned to extended skin maceration—alongside neighbor Josko Gravner, launching the modern orange wine movement. Son Saša has managed the estate since Stanko's passing in 2016. 11-12 hectares on flysch/ponca soils of Eocene marl and sandstone. Slatnik: 80% Chardonnay, 20% Friulano, 8-14 days skin contact, one year in barrel.

More about Radikon

Stanko Radikon didn't just make wine—he helped birth the entire natural wine movement from a remote corner of Friuli. Using forgotten winemaking techniques and extended skin contact on white grapes, he created orange wines that still taste revelatory. His son Saša carries the torch, making wines that taste like history with soul.

What Bowler Wine has to say about this wine:

Slatnik starts with organic Chard and Tocai bunches harvested by hand and destemmed. The berries are co-fermented with natural yeasts in oak vats with no sulfur or temperature control and a 10-14-day maceration The wine is aged in 3500-liter botti for a year and bottled without filtration and with a little sulfur. Slatnik is named for a nearby village.
