Mosel Pinot Noir is rare. Mosel Pinot Noir from Ulli Stein is something else entirely. Stein farms some of the oldest Pinot Noir vines in the region — own-rooted, 40+ years, planted on blue and gray slate slopes so steep they may be among the world's steepest sites devoted to the grape. 'Red Light' is the entry point, bottled as Kabinett Trocken: dry, light on its feet, low in alcohol, and laser-focused on lift and crispy acidity. Ulli champions spontaneous fermentations, minimal cellar intervention, and a philosophy of transparency over weight. The result is Pinot stripped to its essentials — tart red fruit, dried herbs, crushed slate — with the kind of nervy delicacy that turns the usual Pinot Noir conversation on its head. A wine that makes a strong case for chilling your reds slightly.

Tasting Profile
