This is one of Trimbach's signature dry Rieslings from 2001, the year the house turned 375, bottled under a special label for the anniversary and now more than two decades into its life. Trimbach was founded in 1626 by Jean Trimbach in Riquewihr, and thirteen generations later Cuvée Frédéric Emile is still the bottle the family is best known for. Most Frederic Emile wines are a blend of fruit from the grand cru Gaisberg and Osterberg vineyards, this is from the Osterberg vineyard alone.  It was harvested in mid-October. It is very rich and full of dry extract, it has so much fruit that it gives the illusion of sweetness but it is bone dry. It is almost as good as the magnificent 2001 Clos Ste Hune, some people think it is better.

More about Trimbach

The Trimbach family has been making wine in Alsace since 1626, which makes 2026 their four-hundredth year. Yes, you read that right: four centuries of history, hardships and triumphs, and some of the region's most celebrated wines. Based in Ribeauvillé, Trimbach is famous for dry, taut, age-worthy Riesling, and its Clos Ste Hune, a tiny plot within the Rosacker Grand Cru, produces one of France's most iconic white wines.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Turbot or halibut with beurre blanc, sole meunière, caviar on blini with crème fraîche, roast poularde with morels and cream, veal medallions in a light mushroom sauce.

Tasting Profile

Expect Trimbach's signature style: bone-dry, taut and powerful, with lemon, lime and white peach over a pronounced limestone minerality. The acidity is firm and precise and the body fuller than most Alsace Riesling. With bottle age, the style typically picks up notes of toast, dried herbs and the classic Riesling petrol, finishing long, dry and saline.
