Traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape from one of the appellation's pioneering estate-bottlers, a family that has farmed here since the late 1800s. The Mayard family was among the first in Châteauneuf to produce, bottle, and sell wine under their own name, and their Clos du Calvaire is grounded in old-vine, Grenache-led winemaking. This is classic Southern Rhone: warm, generous, and built on the appellation's famous galets and herb-scented garrigue. The 2009 was a ripe, structured Châteauneuf vintage, and this bottle is now a mature back-vintage from a private cellar, drinking in its evolved, savory window. Old-school CdP from a name with real history.
