One of Champagne's most prestigious grower estates, Vilmart has been family-owned since 1890 and is renowned for wines of exceptional depth and longevity. Based in the Premier Cru village of Rilly-la-Montagne, they farm just 11 hectares with meticulous care. Émotion Rosé is made in the traditional saignée method—brief skin contact with Pinot Noir rather than blending in red wine—producing a rosé of genuine vinosity and structure. The 2016 vintage has had years to develop complexity, offering layers of wild strawberry, brioche, and citrus with a fine, persistent mousse. Serious rosé Champagne for the connoisseur.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 94
"The 2016 Brut Rose Emotion is stellar, even better than it was last year. There`s gorgeous textural breadth and intensity to complement the finesse that is such a signature here. Cranberry, blood orange peel and brisk saline notes build nicely over time. This is a wine of tremendous character." -Antonio Galloni

Robert Parker

RP 93
"Aged in one- to three-year-old 228-liter barrels from Tonnellerie Rousseau, Vilmart’s 2016 Emotion is a blend of 40% Pinot Noir (including 15% red wine) from Villers-Allerand and 60% Chardonnay from Rilly-la-Montagne. Disgorged in October 2023 with a dosage of eight grams per liter, this wine greets the nose with a highly aromatic bouquet of red berries, blood orange and spices. On the palate, it’s full-bodied, textured and enveloping, with ripe yet vibrant acidity and structuring phenolics that assert themselves on the long, perfumed finish. Gastronomic yet harmonious, this wine has the potential to age beautifully. As with all of Vilmart’s wines, it is vinified without malolactic fermentation, preserving its tension." -Robert Parker's

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
