Whitcraft Winery, led by Drake Whitcraft in Santa Barbara County, is known for site-transparent, minimal-intervention Pinot Noir. La Rinconada Vineyard, in the Sta. Rita Hills, combines sandy loam and diatomaceous earth for intensely flavored fruit.

Fermented with native yeasts and aged in neutral oak, it captures purity, lift, and fine structure. A precise expression of one of the AVA’s top Pinot Noir sites.

Robert Parker

"The 2023 Pinot Noir La Rinconada Vineyard is one of the high points in this extensive range of Pinot Noirs. The nose radiates aromas of spice box, citrus peel and aromatic bitters against a pure red-fruited backdrop. The palate is exquisitely refined and focused while showing remarkable restraint, finishing with a fantastic richness that sneaks up on the taster due to the wine's slender nature. This is irresistible now but steadily took on more nuance and depth with even a short time in the glass, and I suspect it will evolve beautifully." —Matthew Luczy
